Adopted following the Covid-19 pandemic and established by Regulation (EU) 2021/522 of 24 March 2021, the “EU for Health” (EU4Health) programme aims to strengthen health systems, making them stronger and more resilient, thus paving the way for a “European Health Union”.
The “EU for Health” programme, which has been allocated a budget of 5.3 billion euros by the European Union for the period 2021-2027, has four objectives:
- Improve and promote health
- Protect people
- Facilitate access to medicines, medical devices and products needed in the event of a crisis
- Strengthening health systems
